The Nursing and Midwifery Office has a range of scholarships for nursing and midwifery students studying in Western Australia. These scholarships have been offered to WA nurses and midwives since 1980.
We are continually reviewing the process of allocating all scholarships to ensure the process is accountable, transparent and administered using best practice processes.
Aboriginal students are strongly encouraged to apply for any of the relevant categories.
You may also be eligible for a discount on fees through the Public Sector Commission Tuition fee Discount Scheme (PDF)
Claiming your Scholarship Funds: To receive your scholarship reimbursement, you are required to send in your results and invoice to the Nursing and Midwifery Office before 1st September 2014.You can do this by emailing a copy of your results/invoice to email@example.com

Initial Registration Scholarships
The application process and the awarding of Initial Registration scholarships has recently changed. Please ensure you read all available information on the website and complete the process required.
- Enrolled Nurse
Diploma of Enrolled Nursing (includes applicants who are Assistants in Nursing, or Health Care Workers bridging to Enrolled Nurse. This leads to an initial registration as a Registered Nurse.
- Enrolled Nurse to Registered Nurse Conversion
Enrolled Nurse to Registered Nurse Conversion Program. This leads to an initial registration as an Registered Nurse.
- Registered Nurse
Bachelor of Science (Nursing) (includes Enrolled Nurses bridging to Registered Nurse, those with Hospital or Tertiary Educated Diplomas converting to a nursing degree, and those undertaking Honours or Graduate Entry Masters programs in nursing). This leads to an initial registration as an Registered Nurse.
Bachelor of Science (Midwifery) or Graduate Diploma in Midwifery . This leads to an initial registration as a Midwife.
- Registered Nurse and Midwife Double Degree
Bachelor of Science (Nursing) / Bachelor of Science (Midwifery). This leads to an initial registration as an Registered Nurse and Midwife.
- Renewal of Registration
Enrolled Nurse, Registered Nurse or Midwife. This leads to restoration of registration.

- Enrolled Nurse Principles of Emergency Care Scholarship
For enrolled nurses employed within WA Health to undertake the Enrolled Nursing Principles of Emergency Care program through the Australian College of Nursing.
- Enrolled Nurse Specialisation
Includes Advanced Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2 Nursing): specialisation in mental health, anaesthetics, and aged care; and renal care course.
- Registered Nurse Specialisation
Includes Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Master or PhD qualifications in nursing.
Includes Postgraduate Diploma and Masters qualifications in Midwifery. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must already be a registered Midwife. For students commencing into a Graduate Diploma into midwifery, you will need to apply for the Initial Registration- Midwife Scholarship.
