Graduate nursing
Newly qualified enrolled nurses and registered nurses are encouraged to undertake a fully paid 12, 18 or 24-month graduate program at one of the many Western Australian public hospitals and health services.
This allows you to transition into the nursing workforce in a supportive clinical environment. You will gain exposure to a variety of clinical settings, while consolidating theoretical learning and critical clinical skills and judgement.
All graduate programs for graduate registered nurses and enrolled nurses within the public health sector are centrally coordinated by WA Health via the online recruitment system Graduate Nurse Connect (GNC). This allows applicants to apply for graduate opportunities in three hospitals / health services using one application.
Applications for registered and enrolled nurse graduate programs for 2010 via Graduate Nurse Connect closed on 7th July 2009. We are unable to accept any late applications.
Our programs with vacancies are currently considering those remaining applicants who applied between 22nd June and 7th July 2009.
At this stage it is unlikely that any further applications will be accepted for 2010 programs. Should the situation change we will advertise via www.gnc.health.wa.gov.au, so please check the website regularly.
All applicants must be eligible for registration with the Nurses and Midwives Board of Western Australia.
Additionally, overseas applicants must be eligible to apply for a visa that will allow them to work in Australia.
Second year graduate programs are either part of the overall graduate program or are advertised separately, for more information contact the hospitals direct. The Ocean to Outback second year graduate RN rotation program is offered by the WA Country Health Service. You cannot apply via GNC for second year programs.
