Nursing and midwifery in Western Australia

Become a nurse or midwife

Professions available

The great thing about nursing and midwifery is that there is a branch suitable for everyone. You can elect to take it as far as you want to go and there will always be a position available for your qualifications and skills.

In Western Australia there are three main types of nurses: enrolled nurses (ENs), registered nurses (RNs) and nurse practitioners.

You can also become a midwife.

Each qualification requires a differing skill level, knowledge base and qualification. WA Health encourages nurses and midwives within the system to undertake further skills training.

For a more extensive list of nursing and midwifery positions available in Western Australia see career structure in WA Health.
