Delivering a Healthy WA
Nursing and midwifery in Western Australia

Become a nurse or midwife

Your career – professional development

WA Health understands the need for nurses and midwives to maintain their skills knowledge competency. We encourage and support professional development among all nurses and midwives working in the Western Australian public health sector.

Professional development programs are available to WA Health nurses and midwives and are invaluable for future development. Through our network of health professionals, we are able to provide a variety of opportunities for staff. You are encouraged to meet with your managers to discuss your options if you feel you need further skills development.

Continuing professional development (CPD) is critical to maintaining the high standards expected from the nursing and midwifery professions. It is essential that you maintain clinical skills and stay up-to-date through participation in continuing nursing and/or midwifery education and professional development activities.

In addition, postgraduate opportunities exist at each university for registered nurses and midwives.
